The Metanerd

The name is Bella. I live in DC, but you would think I live in San Francisco from the way I blog about it. I love to talk about how nerdy I am, even though my friends say I'm pretty cool.

Again, ModCloth, why is it that everything I want is out of stock?

So I watched this HelloGiggles tutorial on how to apply nail polish with a marble effect. Sounds awesome, right? I’m not the type of girl who will spend all night doing this [girl has other engagements or sleep], but I was curious to find out how it’s done.

Verdict: I haven’t budged on my opinion on how time consuming it is [girl’s loves her sleep], but I have determined something else. This is just plain fugly. Cool concept but even with good execution, it’s just not the right style for me.

Have you ever done marble nail polish? Wanna share a non-fugly marble design?

Infiniti scarf #4: Feminine edge
I looked back at all the other outfits i created for the Spratters & Jayne scarf and I couldn’t help but notice that they were all a little masculine and on the edgy side. I tried to come up with an outfit that was more feminine. Not so much with frills and lace, because you wouldn’t see most of the ruffle details with the scarf on. And I couldn’t find a decent lace skirt. But I did come up with this! It’s all tight, body conscious and shows a lot of leg. This is my version of a feminine outfit.

Infiniti scarf look #3: No edges
I love the idea of leather shorts. You get to be a badass without looking like you got a gift card to Wilson’s Leather for Christmas/Hanukkah. I imagine the girl that’s wearing this is going to grab dinner with an equally fashionable girlfriend, so you know, she can’t show up in sweats because she’s gotta show her up. Or maybe this girl is going to a concert. Yeah, that works too. This girl is a badass with good taste in music.

Infiniti scarf look #2: No focus
I’m not sure what I would call this look. If I had to describe the girl who would wear this outfit, it would be the fashion blogger. you know which one I’m talking about. She’s the one you follow religiously and she seems to put together outfits that otherwise wouldn’t make any sense but she just pulls it off effortlessly - although you know you could never pull it off yourself. Yeah, her. That bitch.

Ok, so remember when I said I was obsessed with the Spratters & Jayne Ultra Chunky Infiniti scarf? I wasn’t kidding. I used a lot of my free time over the holiday weekend putting together outfits built around the scarf. My first thought was definitely to keep everything else sleek and to play up the industrial look of the scarf.

I’m going to post 3 more sets, because I am OBSESSED.

Sweatpants will always be ugly, but the most comfortable things you can wear. And that’s okay.

Or more like, I’m okay with that.

From Spratters and Jayne’s winter collection.

I want this NOW. Like I may rob a bank. Anybody want to be a super generous friend and get me this for Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa? I’ll pay you back with a handmade booklet of friend coupons for homemade dinners and such!

Make sure you check out Jenna’s recap of the event and check back often for the showcase on our $20 grab bag vintage finds!

Our stash beneath a display case, the three of us collected too many items to be able to hold them all. We always had one person on the look out.

The crowd at Meeps - this was taken when the event was near full swing. Can you spot Pas Cher Chic’s Jenna in the crowd?

Meeps/Treasury Launch Party Instant Recap: I had so much fun with my fashion blogger pal Jenna and fellow Tumblrite Mary! I went home and retried everything on. My private dress up session was successful; every piece I got from Meeps works with my existing wardrobe.
I’ll post some pictures from the event soon, but for now I’ll leave you with a picture of the delicious cupcakes they left out for the shoppers. There was champagne too but the bottles kept disappearing before I could snap a picture.
Yay to the owners of Meeps for throwing a great party/shopping event!

Do I really need more clothes? No.

But do I want to go? Hell yes.

See you there? OK!

Can someone please explain this to me?
